Submission Guidelines
Submissions for Issue 1 will be closing on July 31. Submission 2 dates will be announced shortly.
Poetry
- Length: Up to 5 poems per page per submission (preferably submitted as a single PDF).
- Form: Any style, form, or experimental structure.
- Language: Any language. If submitting in a language other than English, a translation is welcomed but optional.
- Theme: Original, unpublished work.
Prose, Short Fiction, Non-Fiction, Reviews
- Length: 2000-6000 words per piece (preferably submitted as a single PDF).
- Genre: Prose, short fiction, novel excerpts, creative non-fiction, essays, and critical reviews.
- Language: Any language. If submitting in a language other than English, a translation is welcome but optional.
- Theme: Any theme.
Book-Length Fiction
- Length: 2000-6000 words per section/chapter.
- Language: Any language. If submitting in a language other than English, a translation is welcome but optional.
- Because we want to give long-form storytelling the slow, intentional focus it deserves without overwhelming the crew, we are only accepting book submissions in sequential sections.
- How the process works: 1) Only send the first section or chapter of your book for your initial submission. 2) If the collective accepts your first section, we will work with you to slowly submit and review the next sections of the book one by one as we publish them.
Visual Arts & Photography
- Format: High-resolution digital images (JPEG or PNG formal).
- Category: Photography, digital art, scans of paintings, illustrations, or mixed-media works.
- Theme: Artistic, conceptual, or boundary-pushing visual storytelling.
Format: Online / Digital
Publication Cycle: Rolling basis. We review work year-round and publish pieces continuously as they are accepted
Author Rights: Olkas acquires First Digital Serial Rights and Archive Rights to publish your work on our website. This just means we get to be the first place to publish the piece online, and we will keep it live in our digital archive permanently so readers can always find it.
Following publication, all rights immediately revert back to the author or artist. We only ask that if your work is republished elsewhere in the future, you kindly credit Olkas as its original home.
